Trust Property in Connection with the 26th EFSG

Housley Hall – Our Headquarters

Housley Hall is the headquarters of the 1st Chigwell and Chigwell Row Scout Group and Stag Explorer Scout Unit. The building is owned and maintained by a separate registered charity:
The Trust Property in Connection with the 26th Epping Forest Scout Group
(Registered Charity No. 1066362)

About the Trust Property Charity

This charity was established in 1997 to support the management and upkeep of Housley Hall. Although the 26th Epping Forest Scout Group later merged with the 12th Epping Forest Scout Group to form the 1st Chigwell and Chigwell Row Scout Group, the original Trust remains active and continues to manage the property in accordance with its founding principles.

The charity operates under a Declaration of Trust dated 31st March 1970, following the Group’s purchase of the building from the Chigwell Village Hall charity (formerly the Chigwell British Workmen and Mission Room) in 1970.

Charity Objectives

The stated purpose of the Trust is:

“For the general purposes of the 26th Epping Forest Group of Scouts in such a manner as the committee of said Group shall from time to time direct.”

The Trust has its own board of trustees who meet regularly to oversee the charity and safeguard the long-term future of the property.
